The latest addition to Apple retail presence arrived on 1st March 2003 with the opening of an AppleCenter in the Great Eastern Mall along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. I didn't manage to attend the grand opening but went there the following day on 2nd March.

It is a huge store taking up 2 shop lots in the mall, but it's quite sparse inside. The interior décor is very much like the retail Apple Stores in the US, with wooden floors and black shelves. The layout is pretty simple, once you enter the store, you're greeted by the cashier counter, and behind that is the theaterette which has an unusually curved screen, and black benches for the audience. Unfortunately they weren't playing anything at the time i went there. Over to the left is the hardware showcase where you get to see the usual suspects of Apple hardware, including the latest 12" PowerBook (but not the 17" model). There was also a huge 3 feet tall Stitch plush toy there. On the other side of the theater you have shelves of Mac software and games, as well as accessories like cables, input devices, digital cameras, printers and carrying cases.
